How Talkspaces transforms mental health support for teens

Schools and other organizations that serve youth often aren’t resourced to address mental health at the speed and scale needed to ensure that diverse needs are met, and that at-risk youth get the right care quickly. Partner with Talkspace to provide a teen-centered solution for both prevention and treatment.

Youth-friendly technology

Self-guided courses and online classes in the Talkspace Go app engage teens in their mental health, and the Talkspace therapy app makes 1-on-1 therapy convenient, private, and approachable.

Therapist match in 1 day

Youth can begin messaging with their therapist right away, and schedule a live session within about a week. Rapid access to support prevents escalation of mental health challenges.

24/7 access

Teens send and receive messages (text, video, or audio) with their therapists at any time, when school counselors aren’t available (school nights see the highest engagement). Self-guided courses provide support teens engage with on their own terms.

Teens self-refer to therapy

Teens sign up for therapy on their own, at any time, through the Talkspace app or website, and receive parent consent through a streamlined email process. No coaches or triage stand between teens and the expert care they deserve.

Supporting youth mental health at every step

Talkspace therapists can guide youth through typical challenges like school stress and relationship conflicts and also treat serious mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. These three anecdotes describe common ways Talkspace supports youth.

JOSE  |  Under academic pressure

Jose feels overwhelmed by school. He’s under pressure from his family and his own high standards to get good grades, but he’s struggling to keep up while balancing a part-time job. His therapist works with him to develop personalized strategies to manage his schedule and they talk through his anxieties about the future. They also practice grounding techniques to help Jose overcome his anxiety and enhance his focus on exam days.

ROSIE  |  Navigating intense relationships

Rosie argues with her mom about homework and curfew, and frequently gets her feelings hurt by her friend group. But she gets things off her chest by talking to her Talkspace therapist, and her therapist helps her develop better communication and conflict resolution skills. Over time she’s able to be less reactive and more empathetic, and recognize which friendships are positive ones and which aren’t.

DYLAN  |  Early symptoms of depression

Dylan’s been skipping assignments and she’s grown distant from some friends. She spends a lot of time on social media and notices that it makes her feel bad about herself. A school counselor notices that Dylan seems off and refers her to Talkspace. Her Talkspace therapist diagnoses her with mild depression and gives her cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) exercises. By learning to interrogate and reframe negative thoughts, Dylan’s depressive symptoms improve after three months and her grades do too.
